When first installed by the Authorized Vantrue installer in Queens, NY I kept waking up to a dead battery. They stated the N5 was not wired to the vehicle correctly and fixed it. I have not had any problems for a year, the Dashcam worked as well as advertised and met every expectation.
Recently I noticed when the Vehicle starts the Vantrue N5 does not turn on. It is hard wired to the electrical system using the sold separately kit from Vantrue's website when first installed. All the connections and wiring have been checked, all of the plugs are pushed in tightly to the cameras and everything is as it is supposed to be. I'll drive for miles and suddenly I'll hear the N5 Dashcam turn on; or it will not turn on at all no matter how many times I restart my vehicle and how many miles I've driven.
Another issue is the WiFi that I've been able to connect to the N5 has suddenly been unable to connect. Same Phone, same software, same N5 but now it doesn't connect so that I can format the 512gb SD Card that I've formatted monthly for a year.
The software is the latest update, the wiring checks out. The Unit is hit and miss on starting up when the vehicle is started - which is not a good thing when reliability is essential in a dashcam (especially one that cost over $500 with all the bells, whistles and accessories).
I was about to buy another for my second vehicle but now I have my doubts.
Has anyone else experienced this issue with the Vantrue N5 Dashcam?
